We are going to celebrate Rakshya Bandhan on August 3. I wish all of you a very very Happy Rakshya Bandhan. Specially It is a very popular festival of all Hindu Nepali and the Indians. This festival is also known as Janai Purnima in Nepal.

It is the most popular festival between brother and sister after Tihar festival. We do bhai tika in Tihar, as well as we do wishing for sister's security and wellness brother gives her a promise and both ties a spiritual and traditional thread in their hand down the palm. Normally there is an ancient rule or belief of giving special gifts to sisters. Personally I want to wish all of you Happy Raksha Bandhan 2077 and Happy Janai Purnima 2077. 


History of Rakshya Bandhan:

Rakshya Bandhan and Janai Purnima are being celebrated in Nepal since ancient age from the many centuries back. It is being said that this festival came into existence after Draupadi tied Rakhi in the hand of Lord Krishna. 


There are many sayings and the marks related to this historic festival and occasion. We celebrate the Rakshya Bandhan festival to keep the relationship between brother and sister more effective and strong.  Many brothers with sisters and the sisters with brothers celebrate this festival with each other but the sisters who have no brothers and the brothers who have no sisters go to the pilgrim places and wishes good for family and their beloved ones. They go to a temple-like Pashupati, Bageshwori, and many more. Some people tie the traditional thread in the Pabitra Brikshya Peepal. We see lots of threads being tied in the Peepal tree. 




Once again happy Rakshya Bandhan my sisters, brother, and all the Hindus and the entire world who celebrate this historic festival.

Importance of Rakshya Bandhan

We celebrate every festival to have fun, exchange joys, and sorrow together. Similarly, we are going to celebrate this Rakshya Bandhan 2020 to developed mutual understanding, mutual help, cooperation, and lovely relationship amongst the entire world not only between brother and sister. We should develop a mutual helping and caring relationship between us to live a very happy life.



It is being widely celebrated all around the world after people started traveling all around the world.  
When I was small I used to have the Janai Purnima thread Rakhi and tika from a priest who used to come to our village on such occasions, I still remember. It actually doesn't happen in town areas. I found celebrating Rakshya Bandhan in the village is far more interesting than in the city. However, celebrating Rakshya Bandan with family adds flavor either we are in-country or in town.


I hope you all are going to celebrate this fantastic occasion in a very interesting way. Again I wanna give you many many wishes of Raksha Bandhan 2020. Exchanging the wishes of festivals like Rakshya Bandhan and Janai Purnima makes us more civilized and friendly.

My Wishes

I think Raksha Bandhan 2077 is going to be a very interesting festival. Although we are going from bad situations we shouldn't forget our culture and the good tradition. We should carry them with us. If we carry them, then only our future generation can find it and learn about it. I must say if our ancestors hadn't transferred this culture to us we wouldn't be able to talk even about this beautiful culture.


How do we celebrate Rakshya Bandhan & Janai Purnima

Generally, we wake up early in the morning and we do our cleaning before the sun rises. Then we may visit the Brahmin of our village or he may come to meet you. Then some members of the house engage in cooking delicious foods like Khattey, Khir, Puri, etc. Then our main function takes place. The main function is to tie thread and the designed watch type band on hands. In some places, the Brahmin ties the thread in hands of the family, if they don't have brothers or sisters. Brother and sister are not allowed to eat food before the main function.
